Mt. Fuji Viewpoints Near the Villa
While the villa’s own terrace, pool, and sauna already offer stunning views of Mt. Fuji, a couple of nearby spots are worth the short drive if you’d like to capture the mountain from a different angle — or simply enjoy a quiet moment surrounded by nature.
Hana no Miyako Park
Just a few minutes from the villa, Hana no Miyako Park is a 300,000-square-meter flower park set at an elevation of nearly 1,000 meters, with Mt. Fuji visible from almost anywhere on the grounds. Because of the cooler climate here, flowers bloom about a month later than in Tokyo: tulips in late April, nemophila and baby’s breath in June, sunflowers in mid-to-late August, and cosmos through September and into autumn. The free zone alone is worth a stroll, while the paid “Seiryu no Sato” area adds a waterfall, an all-season greenhouse (Floral Dome Furara), and an underground exhibit of lava tree molds left behind by a past eruption of Mt. Fuji. In winter, the park hosts a nightly illumination event with weekly fireworks, and on clear days between December and January, it’s sometimes possible to catch a glimpse of “Diamond Fuji” — the sun setting directly behind the mountain’s peak.

Myojinyama Panorama Terrace
A short drive along the road toward Mikuni Pass, Myojinyama Panorama Terrace is one of the most photographed viewpoints in the Lake Yamanaka area, with a wooden observation deck overlooking the lake and Mt. Fuji beyond it — and, on especially clear days, the Southern Alps in the distance. In autumn, the surrounding hillside fills with golden pampas grass, and at sunset the whole scene turns a deep red. It’s best enjoyed as a quick stop rather than a full excursion — most visitors spend 10 to 30 minutes here — though hiking trails toward Mt. Myojin and Mt. Mikuni also start nearby if you’d like to extend your visit. Parking is limited to a small number of spaces, so arriving outside of peak weekend hours is recommended. Please also note that the road can freeze in winter, so winter tires are advised if you’re visiting between December and March.
